The key to appropriately managing a company's overall tax cost is to align tax strategies with business initiatives and proceed with assisting the company with implementation. EY's Indirect Tax Practice provides the knowledge, experience, resources, and processes to bridge the gap between what is expected of a company's tax department and its current capacity. In addition to having depth of technical knowledge and experience, our Employment Tax professionals are knowledgeable about the business challenges companies are facing and how those challenges affect a company's state and local tax position. Further, a select group of our Indirect Tax Practice professionals devote time to our Inorganic Growth strategy, teaming with individual EY practices to identify gaps in each business and help launch new service offerings to promote growth for our firm.
We are currently seeking a Staff 2 professional in EY’s Indirect Tax Practice with a split focus between our Employment Tax practice and our Inorganic Growth team to deliver quality tax services to our clients and to promote growth within our business. This position offers excellent opportunities for learning and career advancement to the right candidate.
Your key responsibilities
We'll look to you to team effectively with our internal resources and in time develop strong relationships with our clients. Areas of focus include planning and compliance for mergers & acquisitions and internal reorganizations; audit defense; employment tax complex consulting; employment tax compliance; look-back reviews; process improvement; short-term business traveler analysis and policy design; and remote work analysis and policy design. You will participate in client meetings and work within a team environment to deliver fully integrated services to clients.
Further areas of focus pertaining to our Inorganic Growth team include helping identify opportunities for growth within our Indirect Tax Practice, teaming with individual practices to develop the detail around a new opportunity and support its launch, and providing overall project management support to our team.
Skills and attributes for success
Demonstrate an understanding of basic tax concepts and actively pursue increased global, federal, and state employment tax knowledge through client assignments and current tax developments
Familiarity with HR processes and operations
Strong analytical, research and project management skills
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Ability to multi-task and work on concurrently assigned clients and projects
Demonstrated leadership skills and excellent interpersonal abilities
To qualify for the role you must have
A bachelor's degree with a concentration in accounting, finance, economics or a related field preferred
An advanced degree in business, tax or law is highly desirable
