The opportunity

You’ll help our clients develop a vision for the future of compliance while assisting them in compiling with deposit, lending (mortgage, personal and auto), credit card laws and regulations and consumer operations by contributing to or collaborating in the assessment, remediation and improvement of compliance programs, agile technologies, risk and controls, and automated processes and systems (including data analytics) for the first, second and third lines of defense. You will lead the discussion and provide clients with industry-leading insights and recommendations on how compliance is changing in the digital world, as well as co-create a compelling vision to transition to industry-based platforms in the next three years. You’ll focus on providing AI and data driven technology solution recommendations, making complexsoftware development life cycles, agile product releasese, data management life cycles, risk and compliance technology assessments, data and advanced analytics simple for the client to visualize as a leading solution to the rapidly changing risk and compliance landscape.

Your key responsibilities

You’ll likely spend most of your time leading teams and engagements where you’ll deliver strategic enhancement of digital platforms, IT systems or operational processes supporting the regulatory compliance function within financial services firms. You’ll focus on the delivery of regulatory remediation, process and technology improvement, delivering insights to our clients through enabling technologies. You’ll also help the client understand and comprehend existing regulations from regulatory agencies like CFPB and the OCC. You’ll be involved in understanding the current business, regulatory and industry trends to deliver world-class solutions to solve our clients’ toughest challenges.

  • Ability to interface directly with clients, perform project management and manage client expectations, deliver on solution architectures and digital integrations

  • Ability to cultivate and manage business development opportunities

  • Ability to merge digital, AI, technical, big data and analytics skills (R, Python, SAS) with project management duties and compliance and risk business acumen

  • Ability to lead digital prototyping via design thinking skills and ability to lead a manager team to provide rapid prototypes via UI/UX tools

  • Compliance and risk business acumen needs to consist of data management, solution and platform architecture, application of AI and machine learning to compliance analytics

  • Ability to lead, coach and manage a team of professionals with diverse skills and background

  • Ability to guide engagement teams, work product creation and overall quality related to:

  • Consumer products (e.g., mortgages, home equity loans, student, auto, personal and all other types of loans, deposit products, credit cards and add-on products)

  • Risk, controls and regulations (e.g., all mortgage and HMDA regulations, deposit regulations such as Reg. DD, Reg. D and Reg. CC, lending regulations such as TILA (Reg. Z), RESPA, Card act, E-sign, CANSPAM and TCPA)

  • Agile technologies

  • Consumer, wealth and insurance banking operations

  • Ability to guide engagement teams into performing and documenting activities related to:

  • Creating and leading end-to-end solution and platform architectures

  • Having a strong point of view on where AI and analytics provides optimization for risk and compliance functions

  • Gathering requirements and translating into functional/system requirements

  • Conducting compliance assessments, remediation, testing against regulations and tool development

  • Developing system change and configuration options

  • Implementing changes to third-party and custom development systems

  • Testing system changes

  • Assessing compliance programs and technology

  • Performing data analysis on subsets of client data and assessing data availability, adequacy and quality

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • A bachelor's degree and more than six years of related work experience; or a graduate degree and more than five years of related work experience; a degree in computer science, engineering, accounting, finance or related field; more than six years of experience at a financial services company or comparable experience working as an advisor to a financial services company; a degree in computer science, engineering, accounting, finance or related field; MBA, MIS or MS degree preferred

  • Ability and comfort level researching client inquiries and emerging issues, including regulations, industry practices and new technologies

  • Demonstrated ability to manage, supervise and build an effective team of technology consultants through all phases of the project technology life cycle, including requirements definition, architecture design, configuration/implementation, conversion and testing

  • Demonstrated ability to understand compliance risk and control based on regulatory requirements

  • Valid driver's license in the US and a valid passport required; willingness and ability to travel both nationally and internationally to meet client needs

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Experience in first line of defense in a consumer banking operational or technical role, second line of defense compliance officer, or internal audit

  • AI frameworks – conceptual solution level skills of Microsoft Cognitive tool kits, Google TensorFlow, IBM Watson, AWS AI and ML solutions

  • Data and compliance analytics tools – SQL, SAS, R, Hadoop, Spotfire, Tableau, Qlikview, dig data

  • Understanding of consumer regulations for lending, including, but not limited to, mortgage, credit cards, student lending, auto loans

  • Understanding of latest digital trends and robotic process automation (RPA)

  • Experience in consumer operations, agile technologies and risk and controls

  • Experience in a compliance technology function at a regulatory body such as state regulator or CFPB is a plus

  • Experience in core banking industry or compliance technology software company preferred

  • Understanding and experience of SDLC leading practices
