The opportunity

As a member of the team at EY Wavespace (EY’s network of innovation and growth centres), you will have the opportunity to work with local, regional and global clients to understand and address some of their largest and most complex performance challenges, and ultimately improve and drive sustainable business results. We enable organizations to identify and address their most critical issues, ranging from strategic direction and alignment, digital disruption and organizations responses to the pace of change whether technological, political or societal in nature. Whilst the nature of our work focuses on the design and facilitation of collaborative events, the competencies required is a diverse and challenging blend of logical problem solving, innovative thinking, political astuteness.

It is expected that Wavespace Technicians will need to own the technology backbone and connecting tissue of the centre to help engage and influence diverse groups who are operating under high pressure and create the environment and framework that empowers them to rapidly understand their challenges, identify options for potential resolution and to steer them towards an appropriate set of action oriented outcomes.

Your key responsibilities

As a Wavespace Technician, you will own the performance of the IT, AV and Security infrastructure, services and education of the Wavespace, EY Sector/Account/Project teams, and other users of the Singapore wavespace.

More specifically, key areas of responsibility will likely include:

  • Responsible for setting up, operating and processing of workplace AV facilities using a range of specialist AV hardware and software

  • Support day-to-day operations of installation, configurations, troubleshooting and help desk support on all IT and AV systems, including but not limited to lighting, sound, digital and film projector or other equipment, and maintaining all technology systems and facilities in good condition;

  • Provide support to wavespace users to solve advanced technical issues (Level 3) and implement corresponding solutions;

  • Provide prompt response to user problems and requests while managing and maintaining the issue tracking system;

  • Educate, assess and raise capabilities of Singapore wavespace team members related to IT, AV and Security troubleshooting practices to ensure they can provide level one technical support to users, when and as required;

  • Work with the Wavespace Operations Manager and related EY teams to manage and engage third party vendors to perform repairs, maintenance and approved installs;

  • Coordinate and partner with the relevant Singapore, ASEAN, APAC and/or Global teams with:

  • the troubleshooting and resolution of LAN & Wireless Network issues;

  • the configuration, administration and troubleshooting of location based Audio Visual equipment; and

  • any other issues related to the availability and stable performance of all IT, AV and Security systems and services;

  • Configuration of network printing resources including printer servers, printers and other peripheral devices;

  • Own, maintain and execute when required the Disaster Recovery Plan and Business Continuity Plan for wavespace to ensure efficient and effecting handling of any outages and minimal impact to wavespace users;

  • Work closely with Wavespace Operations Manager, Wavespace Coordinators and EY Sector/Account/Project teams to assist in handling event activities and inventory control; and

  • Work closely with Wavespace Graphic Designers and Wavespace Videographers to assist in creating and deploying films, graphics and dynamic presentations for the AV systems.

  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with users and internal Wavespace team members;

  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills including customer empathy, good customer diplomacy skills, and problem ownership;

  • Ability to use discretion and judgment in evaluating problems and creating solutions for users;

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information, both verbal and written, to a wide range of end-users, including non-technical users;

  • Ability to use support tools to speed up problem solving and improve own productivity;

  • Hard working, willing to learn and a good team player; and

  • Good command(both written and verbal) in English.

To qualify for the role you must have:

  • A minimum of an associate degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or a related field;

  • A minimum of three years of technical work experience related to AV systems including multi-panel displays, sound systems, etc. including field work and support;

  • A solid understanding of the IT, AV, Security and other business technologies, challenges, leading practices, and trends;

  • Familiar and proven experience with key AV technologies such as:

  • Microsoft: Surface Hub, Surface Pros, Surface Studios

  • Shure: MX901 Ceiling Microphone Array, mini Shure DSP

  • Crestron: RL integrator kit with touch panel (conferencing)

  • NEC: LED displays

  • Polycom: Realpresence Trio 8800 (teleconference phone), Pano

  • HP: Pavillion

  • Four Winds signage software

  • Ceiling mounted speakers and Bluetooth controllers

  • Apple: Apple TV

  • Network infrastructure: AV LAN

  • DSP system based on a BiAmp Tesira IO

  • Wireless microphones

  • A passion for digital technology and innovation, including showcasing knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies

  • Expert knowledge and experience in Microsoft, Apple and Android based operating systems and related business applications;

  • Knowledge of data networking principles and architecture; and

  • Experience in a creative/digital agency or equivalent environment is preferred.
