The opportunity

We are looking for a Director/Associate Director to join our Transaction Strategy and Execution team in Sydney.

Transaction Strategy and Execution (TSE) is a dedicated team with over 90 team members within EY’s Strategy and Transactions (SaT) division that help clients achieve their strategic objectives in acquisitions and divestments.

We cover a wide range of operational aspects in a transaction, including synergy assessments, separation readiness and support, operational due diligence and supporting the integration or separation process. With an unrivalled track record in the industry, you will have the opportunity to be a part of some of the most interesting transactions.

Your key responsibilities

As a leader within our team, you will support and deliver small-medium sized projects or components of large-scale complex projects. Associate Director/Director level responsibilities include:

  • Lead business development initiatives including leading sales proposals, scoping of projects, commercial negotiations and securing engagement approval from clients

  • Lead the delivery of IT due diligence, IT post-merger integration and IT separation/carve-out assignments from inception to completion including project management and report writing

  • Build and maintain effective client relationships with senior stakeholders and be accountable for a high degree of client satisfaction with the engagement process and work products

  • Train, oversee and motivate a team of high-performing IT transaction professionals, working within the broader TSE team nationally

  • Maintain IT industry thought leadership on relevant topics such as enterprise IT infrastructure,application migration, cybersecurity and digital and analytics

Skills and attributes for success

  • Project Management – lead project teams comprising of colleagues across the Strategy and Transactions divisionBusiness and Commercially Driven – working in a fast-paced, exciting environment with sound business acumen to drive valuefor our clients

  • Written Reports – effective report structuring and English writing skills, producing written work of the highest quality

  • Problem-solving – ability to deal with ambiguous challenges and work with assumptions to drive through to solutions on challenging IT transition situations

  • Business Development – facilitate client pursuits, including presentations and client meetings.

  • Contribute to our practice development initiatives, supporting the continued focus on our team as a great place to work

  • People development – coach and mentor team members to support achievement of their career goals

  • Building Relationships - effective working relationships with senior clients, including influence, advice and support to key decisionmakers

  • Broad knowledge of key IT functions such as Enterprise Architecture, IT Strategy and Governance, Systems Integration, Application Development, IT Service Delivery and Infrastructure Management

  • The ability to synthesise approaches to complex integration/divestiture conflicts

  • Experience leading and managing projects and teams in complex business environments

  • Effective negotiation and influencing skills, and the ability to develop long-lasting relationships both internally and externally

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • The willingess and ability to travel nationally when required
