The opportunity

Join EY's Insurance and Federal Claims Services practice, where we specialize in assisting clients with their financial recovery objectives following disaster events such as hurricanes, fires, tornadoes and pandemics. We are a leading professional services firm providing grants management and compliance, and insurance claims services to some of the most complex and prestigious public and private sector entities. The EY team is composed of a diverse group of professionals to include accountants with disaster management experience, former insurance adjusters with engineering backgrounds, former FEMA professionals, and other claims professionals who work together to provide our clients with unparalleled expertise.

Your key responsibilities

In this role, you will work with engagement teams to provide government and public sector clients with a variety of services associated with the administration, management and compliance of disaster recovery funding made available through complex grant and stimulus programs (FEMA, HUD CDBG-DR, ARPA). This might include assisting with large grant projects for states and local governments, interacting with local governments to support project development, organizing and analyzing large volumes of information, and verifying numerous aspects of compliance including transaction testing and programmatic requirements.

Travel and presence at client sites may be required.

To qualify for the role you must have :

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Law, Business, Finance, Emergency Management or related field

  • Minimum of 1 year of related compliance, audit, or financial management experience, ideally with a government agency or professional services firm

  • Effective organization and time management skills and the ability to prioritize when working on multiple engagements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Good attention to detail

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • An understanding of federal disaster grant programs, such as FEMA PA, FEMA HMGP, CDBG-DR

  • A strong interest in the government and public sector

  • Experience with FEMA Grants Portal

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $64,400 to $106,300. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $77,400 to $120,800. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
