The Advisory Services, Asset Management group provides a broad spectrum of advisory services across Capital Markets, Private Equity, Real Estate, Infrastructure, Alternative Investments, Pensions and Corporate services across Pensions Funds and Asset Managers in Canada. This includes partnering and working closely with several cross-functional teams at EY to assist clients with business process development, operational, investment and governance reviews, system implementations, data organization, developing operating models and strategies, developing risk frameworks, ERM, compliance, and controls assessments and rationalization. Our core services help clients strategically develop, assess, remediate and improve processes.

Our team is looking for exceptional, driven and passionate players with an entrepreneurial mindset, energy and desire to succeed. As part of this team, you will help develop and grow EY’s Asset Management Advisory Services footprint and brand across Canada’s top asset managers and pension funds.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the partner and the team to execute the growth strategy and initiatives

  • Deliver and execute of a broad range of advisory projects across different investment platforms, asset classes and corporate functions within asset managers and pension funds, leading to involvement across a broad range of industries including real estate, oil and gas, hospitality and servicing, telecom, transportation, energy. Etc.

  • Lead and deliver engagements related to business process development, operational, investment and governance reviews, system implementations, data organization, developing operating models, developing risk frameworks, ERM, compliance, and controls assessments and rationalization.

  • Support the sector focus growth including go-to-market initiatives, sector knowledge management, learning and development.

  • Assist the partner and the team with business development initiatives including developing proposals and scoping documents, and proactively building relationships with clients and peers at EY.

Requirements

  • An entrepreneurial mindset and strong problem-solving skills possessing an undergraduate/post-graduate degree related to engineering, math/statistics, business, accounting and finance would be an asset.

  • A minimum of 2 years of industry and/or consulting experience related to business transformation, management consulting, business process development, external/internal audit and financial reporting would be preferred.

  • Accounting, auditing, IT or project management designations such CPA, CFE, CMA, RICS APC, PMP or CCIM would be desired.

  • Experience with institutional investors, asset management, pension funds or real estate industry would be preferred.

  • Work within teams to provide valuable insight and high-impact solutions to client issues

  • Knowledge of business processes along with know-how of regulatory reporting, GL, fund/investment reporting and/or ERP systems.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing and client presentations.

  • The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision.

  • A high level of motivation and a self-starting attitude and an ability to think outside of the box and thrive on new challenges.

  • A willingness to travel on short notice to meet client needs; travel is estimated at 25%.

  • Prior experience in consulting preferred.
