The opportunity
The Strategy and Transactions Learning Leader is responsible for developing the learning strategy for Strategy and Transaction (SaT) practice in Canada, overseeing the deployment of SaT related learning and building relationships with the business. This role reports to the Talent Development Leader and strategically aligns with the SaT Managing Partner, sub-service line and competency leaders, Talent Team as well as with the Global and Americas learning groups.
This role is responsible for leading a team in the development and delivery of learning events including forecasts, target audience, budget management, while ensuring the overall needs of our business and people are met in the most effective manner. The SaT Learning Leader will regularly engage with leadership, practitioners, other Talent functions, business subject matter resources, and geographies to ensure business alignment and deployment preparedness. The leader in this position promotes a continuous learning culture within the firm and is accountable for ensuring a consistent, high-quality learning experience in conjunction with the career development framework at EY. This role will also supervise, coach and mentor a Learning Coordinator supporting the SaT learning practice and may be called to have an advisory role on other learning projects across the firm from time to time.
The position is a full-time position and will at times require early morning or evening commitments.
Your key responsibilities
Teaming with the business
Connects with the Canadian SaT sub-service line, and competency leaders and Talent to define learning needs and priorities
Work with the SaT practice and assist with just-in-time training and strategic priorities
Executes on and communicates the learning plans, budget and strategy in an agile manner for skills development and growth in the SaT practice
Collaborates with SaT learning at the Global and Americas levels on strategy, learning deliverables, methods and approaches, instructor management, processes and tools, and sharing of ideas and best practices
Collaborates with the wider Canadian learning team to find efficient, effective modes of developing world-class learning and development opportunities and processes
Strategic thinking and decision making
Sets the strategic priorities for SaT Learning and works with the team to ensure delivery of learning, with a particular knowledge of innovative training in matrix organizations
Translates the needs of the business into learning and development solutions
Drafts and manages the SaT learning budget in collaboration with Finance, SaT Managing Partner and Director of Talent
Make key decisions and suggestions based on a solid understanding of firm, business objectives and needs analysis
Skills and attributes for success
Strong business acumen and an understanding of the SaT service line, the strategies and priorities, and how they translate into learning and development needs will be an asset to enable the ideal candidate to manage stakeholder expectations and to build consensus
Strong relationship management, interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to manage and influence key decision makers and strong internal and external networks with the ability to leverage on these
Creative, innovative and strategic thinker
To qualify for the role, you must have
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a timely and professional manner
Flexibility to work additional hours, accustomed to work in consulting or comparable high demand environments with approximately 5+ years of experience, either within EY or other related organizations
Strong background in learning and development, certification in learning programs and tools is preferred
Strong organizational, project and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple issues and tasks
Strong attention to detail
Demonstrated ability and confidence working with technology and learning new software
Proficient in advanced capabilities in Excel and PowerPoint
Proven track record leading teams and executing against priorities on time and on budget
Ability to work in a multicultural and diverse environment and flex style as appropriate (sensitivity to cultural differences)
Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
