Position Summary:

As part of our Americas Tax Technology Group (ATTG) you will be part of a technology organization that develops and maintains innovative solutions for our client-serving Tax professionals. ATTG professionals will partner with our Tax professionals to develop supporting technology such as digital/mobile tools to improve internal operations, application of Robotics Process Automation (RPA) to collect financial data, development of advanced financial dashboards, visualization, analytics, and reports.

The Performance and Stress Testing Specialist role is in the Production Management pillar. The main function of this pillar is to oversee the deployment and maintenance of Americas Tax Technology tools.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Support performance engineering lifecycle, guidelines, guiding principles, best practices and adherence to these in feature delivery

  • Analyze product performance and scalability across the entire hardware and software system to develop solutions to improve performance and scalability and recommend the roadmap for improvements

  • Adhere to benchmarks to evaluate performance and diagnostic tools to help identify and root cause performance issues

  • Develop sound methodologies for accurate performance comparisons

  • Develop Performance Test plans that simulate, as closely as possible, a typically dynamic customer environment. Plans to include exercise of all architectural components of the software solution under test.

  • Document testing results and recommendations for improving test procedures and performance

  • Serve as a mentor for new members of the team and ensure they have all necessary knowledge and facilities in order to contribute as quickly as possible.

  • Study workload characteristics to create a balanced suite of performance workloads

Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:

  • Adopt a logical and methodical approach to problem resolution

  • Perform analysis of metrics, data, and key performance indicators (KPI) for the purpose of continuous improvement on the quality of support and ultimately reduction in the number of support calls

  • Drive prioritization and time management of their own efforts to support/resolve assigned activities and communicate results and findings to end users and management as necessary

  • Clearly articulate both problems and proposed solutions

  • Diagnose complex issues by a disciplined approach to first reduce them to smaller components, identify root cause.

  • Apply process and technology knowledge to analyze and problem-solve situations with varying degrees of complexity

  • Strong communication skills – both written and oral – and professional demeanor in dealing with both internal and external users.

  • Critical decision-making skills required to assess both nature of the problem at hand and its level of severity for the business are essential

  • Works independently with moderate level of guidance

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, problem solving and organizational skills demonstrated by the ability to assimilate new information, understand complex topics and arrive at meaningful and accurate conclusions

  • Concise and structured oral and written communications skills with proven ability to explain complex concepts in a crisp, clear and graphic-rich style, using appropriate analytics and visualization tools

  • Ability to take ownership for delivering customized projects with a high degree of autonomy and manage multiple, highly-complex projects simultaneously

  • Ability to work collaboratively and leverage skills of other specialists to resolve complex technical issues.

  • Strong teamwork and ability to review the work of colleagues, and mentors their skills development

  • Prior experience in agile performance testing is essential

  • Solid experience with Performance Center and Load Runner scripting/testing

  • Experience with User Experience Management/Monitoring (UEM) tools

  • Strong understanding of how network architecture and other infrastructure architectures/topologies can impact performance

  • Strong knowledge of relational databases, database design and optimization, and SQL Query tuning

  • Strong programming and analysis skills in Java

  • Experience .Net development is a plus

  • Experience with troubleshooting tools such as top, perfmon, ethereal, tcpdump, wireshark, sar, tune, and fiddler

  • Experience in performance benchmarking and system and software optimization

  • Solid experience with AppDynamics APM and other performance monitoring tools

  • Experience with load generation tools, such as HP Performance Center, Apica, Slenium WebDriver

  • Experience with application profiling tools, such as XRebel, JProfiler, GCAnalyzer, Spring Insight, SQL Server 2012/14 profiling and diagnostic

  • Experience with web application tuning, specifically in Intra and Extra Net environments

  • Experience leveraging Automated Test Suites for executing performance testing

  • Understanding of complex multi-user issues, concurrency, and transaction management

  • Strong knowledge of XML, JSON, AJAX, REST, JavaScript libraries and toolkits (DOJO, AngularJS, Modernizr, Bootstrap, JQuery, MooTools, etc.)

Other Requirements:

Occasional overnight travel may be required

A bachelors degree (computer science, engineering, accounting, finance preferred) or equivalent work experience


4-6 years of relevant experience
