Actuarial Transformation Manager
The opportunity
The non-life actuarial transformation team within EY is seeking to appoint a Manager to help further grow and develop it’s offering to clients. The vision of the team is to sit at the heart of the markets most exciting transformation programmes and to help clients get better insights from actuaries in the most efficient and effective way.
The EY UK actuarial transformation practice is a centre of excellence globally within the firm and the practice is called on regularly by international colleagues – and has ambitious growth targets.
Examples of recent projects:
Global Healthcare Insurer: Re-designing the operating model and how the actuarial processes work across Pricing, Business Planning, Financial Reporting and Enterprise Risk Management, thus allowing actuaries to step up and start shaping reporting within the business. Within this scope, we are also helping the firm develop a new choose a new capital model.
Large UK retail insurer: Playing a key second line role in their IFRS17 programme and helping to steer through a period of regulatory change
Large Global US-Listed Insurer: Working with the US colleagues to deliver the actuarial stream of a $50m+ finance and actuarial transformation
The actuarial transformation team sits within the non-life practice and is an opportunity to become part of the EY insurance success story. The non-life practice is the largest non-life practice within the Big 4 and we are on the journey from 80 to 100 consultants.

Your key responsibilities
Assist in the technical delivery and management of projects including actuarial process design, reporting and performance drivers design, operating model design etc and execution of these;
Develop people through effectively coaching, mentoring and managing more junior staff;
Assist in discussions with client contacts and help to manage expectations of delivery, content, timescales and cost;
Present to clients at senior executive and board levels and facilitate discussions to identify opportunities for improvement;
Collaborate on projects as a topic / subject matter specialist (where appropriate);
Play your part in the development of intellectual property to support sales-oriented client interaction;
Contribute to client proposals; and
Play a role in how the team operates and develops - such as feedback, counselling, finance, recruitment, learning and development.
To qualify for the role you must have
Have a strong academic record, including a degree and professional actuarial qualifications (IFoA or similar, qualified or part-qualified);
Have experience of working in a general insurance transformation environment, either within a consultancy and/or an insurer
Have process improvement / process design skills;
Be a strong communicator and presenter;
Have an enthusiastic and proactive attitude to your work;
Have experience of preparing slide decks and reports for senior stakeholders;
Have MI / Reporting experience and knowledge of reporting dashboards and experience in analysing business performance;
Be a problem solver; tailoring what you have learnt from your experiences to date to different problems to help design and implement the solution.
Ideally, you’ll also have
Experience in using actuarial software packages for reserving or capital modelling.
Experience of working closely with finance and planning teams
An interest in the sales and growth of the actuarial transformation practice
