As a leading independent provider of risk advisory services, EY supports organisations in managing their risks, exploiting opportunities and operating effectively. IT Risk and Assurance (ITRA) sits within EY’s Risk business and forms part of our broader Business Consulting practice.

Our clients seek independent advice and assurance on diverse issues including design and operation of their internal controls, security of their business critical systems, delivery of major IT enabled programmes, their relationships with third parties, and their management, stewardship and ability to exploit business critical data.

We are looking to recruit a Manager who can work directly with clients to help them understand and address risks associated with the technologies that support their business.

Your key responsibilities

Your primary responsibility will be to plan and deliver IT risk and control advisory engagements. This will involve interacting at a senior level with client staff, managing multiple assignments, and leading teams of EY personnel. You will be stretched to learn about new IT risk areas, sometimes as they evolve, work across a broad range of clients in multiple sectors, and deal with complex and demanding issues daily.

  • Managing a portfolio of ITRA engagements with our clients to time and budget

  • Reporting to a Senior Manager or Director, responsible for the day to day running of engagements and quality of the team’s output

  • Managing and creating reports and, via review, ensuring the highest quality deliverables

  • Contributing to developing the market for ITRA services across all sectors, identifying sales opportunities and escalating these to senior leadership

  • Establishing client relationships with senior stakeholders across the FTSE 350 market

  • Working with prospective clients to agree, scope, and plan the delivery phase of engagements

  • Contributing to the creation of proposals and marketing material

  • Contributing to the development of the existing ITRA team, acting as mentor and coach to junior team members and leading by example

Skills and attributes for success

Applicants should have a proven track record of delivering either assurance or advisory services in a selection of the following areas:

  • IT risk, control and audit skills:

  • S4/HANA Finance, Oracle, Hyperion, Dynamics, mid-tier accounting packages

  • Database systems e.g. DB2, Sybase, RDS, OS/400, Oracle

  • Operating systems e.g. OS/400, Windows, Unix (AIX, HPUX, Red Hat, Solaris)

  • SOx404 process control mapping (for risks and controls), IT testing, IT test and exception handling documentation, IT risk and control improvement

  • Core GAM competencies (including compulsory training and certification) : audit planning, audit documentation (subject to FRC inspection), audit testing including exception handling, use of GAM, use of Canvas, integration with Audit

  • ITPRM skills : Process controls, ITGC controls, SOD controls, migration risks and controls, HYpercare controls, interface controls, IPE controls

  • SOCR skills : ISAE3402 frameworks, SSAE16 frameworks, COSO, COBIT, sampling, control descriptions, testing, exception handling, reporting

  • Ongoing interactions with C-suite, Head of Change, Head of Risk, Head of Audit, Head of Digital

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Successful track record in Internal and/or External IT Audit with experience gained at a

  • Experience working in an IT risk and control environment at Manager level or equivalent

  • Working knowledge in major ERP (e.g. SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Microsoft Dynamics) implementation approach and project life-cycle

  • Experience of line managing staff, including coaching and developing a team

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Previous participation in Business Development activities, including working with clients to identify their needs and working on responses to invitations to tender issued by clients

  • Ability to engage multiple stakeholder communities and manage cross-functional projects

  • Experience developing propositions that are current and relevant to our clients

  • Ability to develop and deliver high quality output against stated project objectives in tight deadlines
