EY Technology supports our technology needs through three business units:

Client Technology (CT) -focuses on developing new technology services for our clients. It enables EY toidentify new technology-based opportunities faster, and pursue those opportunities more rapidly.

Enterprise Workplace Technology (EWT) – EWTsupports our Core Business Services functions and will deliver fit-for-purpose technology infrastructure at the cheapest possible cost for quality services. EWT will also support our internal technology needs by focusing on a better user experience.

Information Security (Info Sec) - Info Sec prevents, detects, responds and mitigates cyber-risk, protecting EY and client data, and our information management systems.

Job Summary:

The Virtual Application Services team is a central organization within PaaS, tasked with executing and maintaining the Virtual Desktop & Virtual Application service delivery utilizing industry leading solutions. The Virtual Application Services (VAS) Engineer is to work towards the transformation and new implementations of the services delivered by VAS by close-teaming with the other VAS engineers as well as other IT teams to deliver environments in an agile, consistent, repeatable and rapid manner using PaaS services. The VAS Engineer will play a central role in enabling new cloud strategy, multi-vendor delivery, remote access capabilities and integration. The VAS Engineer’s scope will also include developing, building and improving the self-service platform, VDI & Application monitoring, engineering and developing solutions to support the agile needs of EY IT teams.

The VAS Engineer will interact daily with various teams within EY Technology such as the EUTX, Information Security and CT organizations, as well as executing daily work. The individual will be involved on end-to-end virtual desktop and application delivery pipeline supporting the service delivery vendor to ensure service excellence.

VAS Team members are autonomous and self-sufficient with strong communications and time management skills, hence such qualities including excellent interpersonal and client service skills are required from applicants.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Transform virtual desktops and applications for delivery in the cloud and on premise environments utilizing new emerging technologies

  • Active driver for the constant improvement of the current environments (incl. Citrix Virtual Desktops / VDI, Citrix Virtual Apps and Citrix Gateway)

  • Driving and leading internal platform projects, proof of concepts and development initiatives

  • Maintain adherence to architectural standards/principles, global product-specific guidelines, usability design standards, etc.

  • Provide support and documentation to assist in sustaining projects during the transition to production.

  • Input into internal and external organizations towards development of standards as well as efficiencies

  • Provide input into product selection and standards, design, and certification

  • Adheres to engineering methodologies and architecture global standards.

  • Provide feedback regarding development and engineering methodologies, standards and leading practices.

  • Identifies potential points of contention for missed activities and notify leadership of situation with possible solutions.

  • Execution of process engineering and operational improvement initiatives for automation tooling

  • Resolve and act as escalation and coordination point for incidents and problems related to affected services

  • Requirements gathering for design, development and deployment

  • Root cause analysis and improvement solutions

  • Executing scheduled or unscheduled development of solutions for other technology domains

  • Performing audits and analysis of existing products for the purpose of ensuring proper configuration management and consistency.

  • Adhere to E&Y and ITIL guidelines for Incident, Problem, and Change Management

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Experience in Citrix Virtual Application & Virtual Desktop delivery utilizing Citrix, VMware, Microsoft

  • Ability to provision, monitor, optimize and scale Virtual infrastructure

  • Coding capability in one or more languages, especially PowerShell

  • Knowledge and/or experience on designing, developing, deploying Citrix based solutions

  • Experience with hypervisors, VMware, Microsoft, Azure highly preferred

  • Experience with Citrix NetScaler Gateway solutions for scaling, access and HA

  • Windows administration, active directory and group policy experience

  • Well versed in internet architectures, including web, application, and database components

  • Deep understanding of networking standards and Citrix Protocols

  • Interest and ability to learn other technologies and tools as needed

  • Exposure and hands on experience with Azure

  • Experience with various Microsoft and open-source based platforms is a plus (such as IIS, SQL, MsSQ)

  • Apple Mac experience or knowledge

  • Knowledge on Thin Client technology (Wise, HP and/or Citrix Workspace Hub)

Supervision Responsibilities:

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

  • Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience

  • Fluent in English language – written and verbal


  • Demonstrated experience in all aspects of Virtualisation and Windows infrastructure

  • Approximately 8-10 years of related work experience

Certification Requirements:

  • Vendor or industry standard certifications in applicable specialty or related technology areas desirable.
