What will I be doing?
EY’s business development team is responsible for driving the firm’s growth by managing client relationships to drive business‐winning opportunities. Driving innovation to ensure provision of market leading, relevant and highly-targeted solutions to clients. Devising and executing relevant account strategies. Engaging with teams to support them on their most important strategic pursuits and making a sustained contribution to the continued enhancement of the EY Business Development function.
As the Business Development Manager (BDM), you’ll be working closely with the various service line and sub service line leads helping them identify, qualify, and prioritize sales leads; develop sales strategies and plans; coordinate tenders and track opportunities. The BDM will have responsibility for a portfolio of our priority clients and will be required to devise, coordinate and track strategic account plans, opportunity pipelines and relationship strategies.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Account Management & BidManagement
o Develop and maintain account plans and regularly review these against established targets
o Act as a central point of knowledge for all information related to the accounts they support
o Work closely with internal industry centres to develop speciality knowledge
o Be involved in the marketing strategy of client-specific innovative solutions
o Identify, coordinate and participate in client relationship building activities and meetings where appropriate.
o Provide bid content support to the business, coordinating strategic tenders, assisting in the preparation of client pitches and supporting proposal reviews
o Be involved in the client feedback/review process which will consist of managing the data collated and taking part in review meetings.
o Support our client facing professionals in their market approach by preparing client/ sector research and analysis.
o Understand and identify relevant “hot topics” and translate these into new business opportunities.
o Provide in depth views and analysis on sales strategies, trends and relevant statistics etc.
o Create close working relationships with respective professionals and sector specialists in order to coordinate the use and dissemination of business analysis, press releases, financial information, competitive intelligence and relevant firm thought leadership.
o Assist with accurate use of our CRM system to ensure account teams maximise the value they gain from this and that all content is kept accurate across all accounts.
o Demonstrate an understanding of principles and practices of sales and pipeline management.
Requirements for prospective candidates include:
o You have at least 5 years relevant work experience in business development, account management or similar
o You must be proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint) and have experience of managing client relationship databases/tools
o You demonstrate excellent writing, communication, active listening and presentation skills
o You have confident stakeholder management skills and experience with working directly with senior stakeholders to influence and add value
o Professional Services experience preferable but not essential
o Experience with bid management preferable but not essential
o Excellent written, oral, presentation and facilitation skills
o Ability to coordinate multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously through effective prioritisation, organisation, flexibility and self-discipline. Must have demonstrated project management experience.
o Can work with minimal supervision, to make decisions and progress activities
