EY's Economic Advisory is now looking to expand significantly on its existing economics practice to capture exciting opportunities, particularly within the telecommunications, media and technology, power and utilities, health and transport sectors and in in the area of economic policy. As a result, we are looking for skilled post-graduates or equivalent professionals with experience in economics to grow our team to the next level.
EY’s Economics Advisory team combine deep sector knowledge with strong technical skills in economics, econometrics and quantitative analysis to address key client issues in strategy, regulation, competition, planning and government policy.
Technical skills requirements
Suitable applicants will be highly numerate and analytical Economics graduates with previous experience as economist/corporate planner employed in the private, regulatory or the public policy sector.
For these roles, it would be advantageous to have knowledge of any of the following:
Asolid understanding of the principles of regulatory economics, regulatoryfinance/accounting and/or econometrics;
Experienceof economic impact assessment, cost benefit analysis, economic modellingetc.
Anability to solve complex problems in a logical and structured manner;
Experienceof competition and regulatory economics, strategy, business planning,costing and pricing
Experienceof applying economic theory to the development and evaluation of publicand regulatory policy
Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills, including an ability to explaincomplex technical issues to a non-technical audience;
Excellentinter-personal skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
Experienceof the development economic impact assessment
Experiencein Economic policy and/or experience in one of our target sectors
Strongacademic and professional background in Economics, Business or IndustrialEconomics or Econometrics
Haslogical and rational approach to complex problem solving
Hasexcellent written and verbal communication skills; can explain complextechnical issues to non-technical staff
Buildsrelationships with clients and EY teams
Dealsconfidently with stakeholders and client staff and builds credibility forthe firm
Respondsquickly to client requests for information or guidance, referring theissue to more senior staff where appropriate
Recognisesopportunities to contribute to client issues when they arise and assistsin providing solutions
Activelypromotes the sharing of knowledge
Contributespro-actively to building team spirit and works effectively across teams
Deliversto demanding deadlines maintaining the discipline and quality of output
