The Strategy & Analysis team informs and challenges leadership’s strategic thinking by combining a diverse skillset with deep knowledge of EY and the market. Our competencies include strategy development, competitive intelligence, advanced data analytics and market-based planning.
We pride ourselves in our diversity of thought, and we challenge established thinking and approaches by asking better questions to help tease out creative ideas and answers as we collaborate across the firm.
The Competitive Intelligence (CI) team is a key component of the Global Strategy & Analysis team, an internal “strategy consulting” group to the $30+bn professional services business that assists EY leaders in developing and implementing the firm’s growth strategy. The key clients of the CI team are the Executive Leadership of EY at the Global Board level, and service line, function, and area leaders.
The CI team identifies strategic market opportunities for EY leaders based on objective competitive insights. It informs and challenges leadership’s strategic thinking by combining a diverse skillset with deep knowledge of EY, the overall market and the competitive landscape. The focus is on helping the organization make better, fact-based decisions. Our projects cover a wide variety of areas, including market analysis, competitive assessment, scenario development, financial analysis and technology assessment.
Function: Global Strategy & Analysis (GMSA)
Sub Function: Competitive Intelligence
Job Rank: Associate Director / Senior Manager
Location: London or US (Eastern time zone strongly preferred)
Reports to: Global CI Team Leader, GMSA
The CI Senior Analyst role is a senior level position that leads significant internal CI projects to inform and advise EY global leadership. The role is critical to the firm’s executive leadership, as it requires a strategic thinker who can assess the meaning and impact of competitor actions, and relay the implications of these events to senior stakeholders across the firm. The ideal candidate combines advanced research skills with in-depth analytical capabilities to create insightful, coherent deliverables which guide leadership in their decision making.
Working individually and within teams, the CI Senior Analyst will manage multiple projects, prepare strategic assessments of key competitors and market segments, respond to ad-hoc requests on competitive and strategic issues, and communicate with all levels of management across the firm. Responsibilities will be global in nature, cutting across geographies and functions. The role will demand a solid understanding of the professional services industry in general and EY businesses in particular.
The CI Senior Analyst will collaborate with team members across different competency areas within the Strategy & Analysis team, other functions in Global Markets and across a wider EY.
Your key responsibilities
The role of the CI Senior Analyst is one that is highly analytical. The CI Senior Analyst will be responsible for providing analysis, insights and perspectives related to competitive activities worldwide. Most work will require independent thinking, interpretation and judgment.
Working with the firm’s business units and/or firm’s leadership, you will bring an objective, independent view of the competitive and market landscape. You will develop a point of view on the current state of the practice and future growth drivers by conducting and overseeing internal and external research, leading stakeholder interviews and driving fact-based qualitative and quantitative analysis. You will direct multiple projects, programs and initiatives simultaneously, creating alignment and connections to firm’s strategy and to existing and future initiatives and processes. The impact of these projects, programs and initiatives is long-term and enterprise-wide.
You will be based in the US (Eastern time zone strongly preferred) or London. Due to the global nature of the projects and location of key stakeholders, a level of flexibility towards working hours will be required. Occasional travel will be required in relation to project work.
The CI Senior Analyst is primarily an individual contributor role. There are no direct supervisory responsibilities, although it is expected that the CI Senior Analyst would coach, mentor and provide feedback to junior staff within the Global CI team.
The CI Senior Analyst will be part of the Global CI Team but will operate independently and with good judgement on complex and difficult assignments. On the projects that you will be leading, you will have direct influence over project teams consisting of the members of CI team and, in some cases, colleagues from other functions.
