In alignment with EY Tax Next Wave strategy, the Global Tax Acquisitions & Alliances team works with the business to drive the inorganic growth efforts for Tax, driving activity supporting our strategic acquisition and alliances activities.

The team reports into the Global Tax Alliances and Acquisitions Leader.

Acquisitions are a key component of EY’s growth strategy for Tax. They can help to accelerate the transformation and growth of our practices toward our goal to become the #1 Tax Firm by revenue. The team helps the business from exploring their strategy to identifying gaps that could be filled with inorganic opportunities, through sourcing and into the execution of those opportunities.

As the business continues to drive investment into inorganic growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior level Analyst to oversee the Knowledge activities for the team. This role will be part of the Global Tax Alliances and Acquisitions team but embedded within the Knowledge organisation in order to effectively leverage the capabilities and networks of that team.

Role Description

This role is for someone who can work effectively with our EY Tax Leadership, EY Knowledge organisation and relevant SSL (Sub-Service line) teams to successfully lead the Knowledge activities for the team. This involves coordinating, managing and executing research and other knowledge-based activities supporting our inorganic growth.

The role will require a proactive attitude to effectively prioritize and scope work, agree outcomes and deliver according to timescales, often managing multiple research pieces in parallel.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to combine analytical and research skills with business acumen and a strategic mindset in order to produce insight that supports leadership in making strategic decisions.

A collaborative approach is also crucial, as they play a key role in supporting the wider acquisitions network across the firm, cooperating with GDS analysts, Corporate Development Office (CDO) and Area based teams in sharing information with key stakeholders and using that information to further strengthen the quality of materials produced.

The day-to-day elements of the job fall under two categories:

  • Oversee all Knowledge activities for Global Tax A&A:

  • Strategic leadership of and oversight of research and insight:

  • Work with leadership to shape and oversee market scans and other insight activities

  • Ensure strategic alignment and effective prioritization by working with relevant members of the team

  • Liaise and oversee GDS team efforts, providing quality oversight.

  • Proactive oversight of other knowledge activities:

  • Oversee the team’s key knowledge databases - such as PowerBI dashboards, intranet - ensuring they’re up to date and relevant (maintained by GDS)

  • Provide timely information and insight to feed into communications, reporting and strategy definition work.

  • Provide the connection point into the wider Knowledge network and assets, maintaining the team up to date on relevant methods, reports, etc.

(2) Strategy contribution and other projects

  • As a core member of the Global Tax A&A team, participate in relevant meetings and activity to contribute to and be up to date on strategy and priorities related to acquisitions and alliances.

  • As required and based on interests and availability, participate in specific alliance/acquisition activities, in particular those where skillset could provide additional value-add.

Competencies

  • Intellectual curiosity and an interest in strategy, in particular EY Next Wave.

  • Ability to develop a robust and enduring relationship across the EY network and highly team-oriented approach

  • Research experience, with background in strategy advantageous.

  • Strong stakeholder management and coordination skills.

  • Ability to meet unstructured and undefined goals with a thoughtful, structured approach to execute effectively

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to move from detailed research into “big picture” to ensure cohesiveness and a good understanding of the pipeline in the context of the strategy

  • Flexibility regarding tasks undertaken with the ability to prioritise workload and conflicting demands to meet deadlines.

  • Good use of Microsoft Office, in particular PowerPoint and Excel. PowerBI is helpful.

  • Good understanding of and network within EY Knowledge organisation highly advantageous.
