Your key responsibilities
You’re likely to spend your time on a diverse array of projects, responsibilities and tasks,supporting client engagements by participating in day-to-day interactions with team members, providing a quality work product and driving delivery of services to meet deadlines. You will serve as a trusted advisor and role model for our people across multiple teams, research tax law issues, provide advice and assistance to help clients understand risks and potential needs for additional tax advisory or compliance services.
Skills and attributes for success
Experience with the taxation and reporting of:
Oil and gas royalties and working interests
Passive and non-passive business income
Rental assets including real estate, aircraft and watercraft, and installment sales
Foreign information filings including Forms 8865, 5471, 8621 and 926
Foreign tax credit calculations on Form 1116
Reportable transactions reported on Form 8886
Withholding for foreign beneficiaries
Understanding of State Nexus for trusts
Understanding of Trust accounting income
Ability to manage, coach and develop a team of tax professionals, review work and help confirm team members have the knowledge, tools and opportunities they need to excel
Ability to identify and react to risks and opportunities to improve our services and processes
To qualify for the role, you must have
A bachelor’s degree in a related field, supported by significant tax or financial planning experience
A CPA certification or membership in the bar
A minimum of five years of work experience in professional services or with a professional tax organization
A thorough understanding of estate and wealth planning
Experience with federal and state personal and trust income tax
Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, and the confidence to challenge senior colleagues and stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds
Experience with OneSource Trust Tax preferred
Ideally, you’ll also have
A proven record in fiduciary tax and a thorough understanding of fiduciary tax law and concepts required to prepare US federal and state returns
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
The ability to adapt your work style to work with both internal and client team members
