The selected candidate will:
Responsible for the day to day management of large projects defining and managing scope, budget, timelines and quality, with full responsibility and authority to complete the assigned project
Maintains project plans, anticipates, mitigates and manages project risks and creates and implements strategies to mitigate shortfalls in project timeline and budget
Leads project teams consisting of cross-functional, global and virtual groups and directly supervises staff, ensuring the appropriate expectations, principles, structures, tools and responsibilities are in place to deliver the plan and deliver excellence
Delivers a scalable transition process to support the deployment of services into production
Ensures the project follows established client and specific processes including Statement of Work (SoW), Installation Guides, Staging Guides, etc.
Your key responsibilities
Manage and optimize the flow of value through the Agile Release Train.
Lead all Release Train Management roles and responsibilities
Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs)
Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process which drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning
Facilitate the PI planning event. Summarize Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives (the RTE) and publish them for visibility and transparency
Assist tracking the execution of features and capabilities. Help manage risks and dependencies. Escalate and track impediments. Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks
Communication and coordination with program stakeholders
Skills and attributes for success
Excellent knowledge of Project Management Processes/ Project Controls
Knowledge of IT governance formulation, and team management
Some knowledge of IT risk management, IT standards and policies formulation
Strong ability to create tools/ independent spreadsheets to help analyze burn rate/ earned value/ earnings variances and cash projections
To qualify for the role, you must have
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, IT, Science or other Technical qualification
8-10 years in a corporate IT environment with significant Release management
Experience executing the Release Train Engineering role for a minimum of 3 year, diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
Previous experience as Release Train Engineer or Program Manager for an Agile Program with multiple workstreams in major Programs
Excellent facilitation, situational awareness, and conflict resolution skills
Knowledge of burndown techniques, retrospective formats, bug bashing, Kanban, etc.
Experience working with Agile oriented User Stories, ATDD, TDD, continuous integration, continuous and automated testing
Experience in Cloud projects (preferably on Azure), DevOps practices and knowledge of infrastructure (servers, networking, Active Directory, etc.), ADO or Jira is required.
Planning releases for Agile projects. Managing risks for the release scope.
Measure/Monitor progress of the releases and facilitate key sign off activities like Dev Complete, UAT, Infosec etc
Ensure deployments to environments are managed efficiently. Bring about improvements in the release process and ensure quality releases
Collaborate with product managers, engineering, testing, DevOps teams. Should have good experience in working with Agile teams
Proven experience delivering effective release management strategies and implementing scalable transitions
Excellent communication and mentoring skills
Ideally, you’ll also have
SAFe Release Train Engineer certification
CSP / PSM II
6 sigma certification
